Chapter 2: Mediating Between moral demands and interest

Business adapts the methods and purpose of normative ethics to the specific requirements of moral issues in business. It studies the specific moral demands that apply to this particular sphere of modern civilization. Here, business ethics studies both profit and non-profit organizations.

Business ethics is everywhere, the chapter talks about the three different social philosophy of business. First is the Unitarian view, this view ignores the idea that modernity is a basic feature of present society. What is modernity? Modernity, basically is status of how well the society of is updated and affected by this changes especially in terms of technology. The example is Marxism and Catholicism view. The Unitarian view tells that business is part of what we call morally and it is greatly affected by it. It is how the businesses apply the ethics in business or what we call the applied ethics. The second view is called separation view it contradicts the idea of Unitarian view. In business the separation view looks upon the business as being part of the market system yet separated from the culture. It defines business ethics only us its own purpose to maximize profits and reduce costs. The third view talks about the integration view, it talks about the integration of market demand, system, business and morality through bring ethics in business.

Chapter 3: Moral Responsibility in general

It is important to understand how little our natural abilities are specifically human. Apparently, what distinguishes man is less a matter of nature, and more a matter of nurture and if education within a human culture. One of the human core abilities underlying our civilized activates is the capacity to making choices autonomously that is free choice or freedom.

All human are given this right or capability. The freedom to choose or basically freedom. Everyone has this capacity to be free. Freedom is basically the way we interact with other people. It makes life easier to think of morality between good and evil. Thru this freedom we are much more responsible in every aspect of society and even to our businesses. A person is not only repsonisble for his or her plans and activism to a certain extent he or she can also be held reposible for the events resulting thru his or her harm and damages especially if he acted it willingly and knowingly.

Chapter 4: Moral Responsibility in the business sphere

as the corporation engages in quality management, it accepts specific moral responsibilities, at a minimum level, the corporation commits itself to thee such corporate responsibilities:

  1. Consumer care, expressed by satisfying demands for ease of use and product safety.

  2. Environmental care

  3. Care for minimum working conditions

As a business firm, the owner must be considerate both in its internal and external environment. There are responsible to the labour conditions its natural environment and functionality. The work force benefites and right wages, its mimimun risk in terms of the working environment and lastly its serves its purpose to the consumer and their safety as well.
